Swamp/Sponge

The temperature on Earth is rising every year. We can no longer stop the catastrophe, and the neoliberal elites will burn this place down in celebration of the sensational view of the sunset in St. Tropez.
During the unbearably hot summer, a night walk in the forest can bring respite. Coolness and the soothing sounds of delicate rustles and crackles emerging from under the feet walking on the forest floor.
However, in the dark, it is easy to lose your way. The ground becomes muddy, shoes are stuck to a thick, sticky mass. Uncertainty takes the place of peace. A swamp. Dirty and terrifying. I wonder if a sponge could absorb a swamp?
