DOUBTFUL COSMODONY

Doubtful Cosmogony is a plant that tells the story of the origins of fictionalized, many different, early stages of something that would precede what is now or now could be.

Julia Woronowicz's worlds are most often created by disrupting proportions, shifting and rearranging elements in an established reality. The example of the alternative origin story of the daisies, told through representations of mutated, overgrown flowers reminiscent of the tripods from Herbert George Wells' War of the Worlds, the creation of interspecies hybrids, the depiction of the first human attempts to saddle horses, goddesses or great-granddaughters, has an emancipatory purpose - the overwriting of existing narratives. The artist creates speculative precedents, not for research, but for their partial existence. Woronowicz proposes them to our memory so that they can become part of it, and influence our identity.
